Advisory Council Minutes

2005-12-08 Reno

The current round of Advisory Council meetings are specifically designed to gather input for revison of our mission, and adoption of a vision.

Recognizing that Nevada is a geographically, educationally and politically diverse state with traditional challenges in perspective and travel distance, the Board of Directors of the Nevada Natural Resource Education Council (NNREC) establishes an Advisory Council in order to advise it on challenges and opportunities in natural resource education and environmental education (NRE/EE) throughout the state. More detail is in the Advisory Council Policy.

Advisory Council meetings will be held in each of three regions of the state (south, west and rural) each year. The main agenda topic this year will be review and revision of the mission, and development of a vision statement, which will be adopted by the board after input from all the regional meetings. As the first meetings since renewal of the Advisory Council, part of the agenda will be for the meeting participants to discuss what they see the role of the council being in advising the board and providing leadership for NNREC.

Since the upcoming meetings are a core part of our strategic planning process, all participants should review the strategic plan pages and supporting documents.

All persons who have previously been involved in leadership or advising of NNREC will be invited to the meeting in their region, and informed the agenda and supporting documents beforehand.

The first Advisory Council meeting was during the 2003 Statewide Conference, and notes are available.
