On-site environmental education programs are offered in the Lake Mead Recreation Area to provide students the opportunity to learn about the Mojave Desert first hand. A K-6 program, Desert Connections, was developed in cooperation with local teachers to integrate the park program into existing curriculums. Each grade has a specific focus using the resources found at Lake Mead NRA to address topic areas identified for that grade. The programs build on concepts introduced in the previous grades and the activities are designed to help students relate what they are seeing and experiencing to their world of school, home, and community. The two hour programs are offered in October, November, February, March, April, and May. Teachers receive pre- and post-visit activity packets. Middle and high school programs are also available.
The NRA also offers 45 minute programs on a variety of topics, including bats, water safety, ranger activities, dangerous desert dwellers, litter, lizards, birds, endangered species, geology, and more. Reservations are required and are on a first come, first served basis.

Project WILD and Aquatic WILD workshops are offered to educators for in-service and UNLV credit. Workshops range in length from 6 to 16 hours. Presentations are made to classes studying units on wildlife, preferable to those educators using Project WILD/Aquatic WILD in the classroom. A resource library is available for educators.
