TCSF partners with schools, public, and private agencies to develop projects that enhance the educational process and develop environmental literacy. We use sustainability concepts as a integrating theme and a project-based approach to learning which addresses the interrelationships of ecological systems, economic structure, and community dynamics. Our Sustainability Curriculum Program provides ongoing support to teachers and students through outreach activities. These include developing school-community projects that take place in the classroom and in the field, assistance in site selection, project design, coordination, and accessing environmental specialists. Our programs are viewed as a national model by such organizations as the Autodoesk and Stanley Foundations which help support our efforts.
Resources for teachers, parents, and the community include a resource guide for the Tahoe Region ($10.00), in-service training programs, and information exchange (meetings and newsletter).
