Introduction to NEED
This Environmental Education Directory is a practical tool to help teachers bring conservation education into their classrooms. We hope it will also help others, not just students, learn more and spread the word about the wise use of natural resources.
This Directory can also be used as a resource guide to agencies and groups who can help with resource management planning and problem solving.
Your comments about how we might improve this directory would be appreciated. We would also appreciate your help in keeping it up to date. If any information listed is incorrect or has changed, please let us know at the address below. If your group or organization would like to be a part of this directory, please let us know. Send us a brief write-up of your group's environmental education activities, along with your phone number and address. We will be glad to add your entry in the next edition.
About This Directory
This Directory is divided into two parts. Referring to both sections will help you find the contacts you need. The first section, beginning on page 5, lists environmental education sources by county. The second section begins on page 50 and lists sources that are statewide, such as the Nevada Natural Resources Education Council and the teacher workshops sponsored by the Nevada Farm Bureau. You may also want to check listings in nearby counties for additional sources.
Internet Access
This directory is also available on the Internet. You can get there from the US Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service web page:

Nevada Ecosystem Advisory Team
This Directory has been produced by the Nevada Ecosystem Advisory Team, NEAT. NEAT was formed in 1993 to improve communication and collaboration among the various groups and agencies concerned with natural resources in the State. By teaming up, participants are able to share information, staff, funding, and other resources for more efficient management of Nevada's ecosystems.
NEAT Team Vision
Provide for coordinated ecosystem-based leadership among federal, state, and local organizations, with local leadership and education, to enhance and sustain Nevada's natural and economic resources.
Special Thanks!
NEAT extends a special thanks to the Nevada Natural Resource Education Council. NNREC produced the first edition of this Directory and was a great help updating this edition.
Thanks also to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Nevada Association of Conservation Districts, USDI Truckee Carson Coordination Office, US Environmental Protection Agency, Nevada Department of Education, and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, for providing staff and funds for production, distribution, and maintenance of this Directory.
