- The District II office coordinates interpretive programs for all of western Nevada. - The Solid Waste Branch of the Bureau of Waste Management of the Nevada Divison of Environmenal Protection of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources maintains a library of recycling information including audio cassettes, video tapes, and a wide variety of periodicals. - The Natural Heritage Program serves as a centralized data base containing detailed and computer-retrievable data on sensitive species of animals, plants, and communities. The data covers the entire state including State, Federal, and private lands. The program is available for environmental review and planning for both development and conservation efforts.

- Conservation Education Bureau
- Project WILD and Project WILD Aquatic: Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) uses Project WILD and the Aquatic Supplement to promote learning about the environment, emphasizing wildlife. A free copy of the Project WILD or Aquatic Supplement Guide can be obtained by attending a workshop in your county. A variety of additional teaching materials are also provided at these workshops, including coloring books, a handout notebook, posters, wildlife picture sets, etc. To find out about a Project WILD or Aquatic WILD workshops, call Elsie Sellars, 702-486-5127, Las Vegas.

- The Nevada Division of Minerals is responsible for administering programs and activities to further the responsible development and production of Nevada's mineral resources. Educational activity guides and curriculum supplements are available for use in grades K-12. Videos are available for loan to Nevada classroom teachers. Classroom demonstrations and presentations can also be arranged.

- The Nevada State Energy Office serves as a central clearinghouse on energy conservation activities in the state. The Office provides information on energy conservation and renewable energy resources, including solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal. Materials on alternative transportation fuels and vehicles are also available. Publications, videos, and brochures may be obtained, as well as information on additional agencies and organizations offering services. Grants for specific energy conservation projects may be available.

- Project WET: The Bureau of Reclamation is the sponsor of Project WET (Water Education for Teachers). This program provides water education workshops for teachers, youth leaders, and resource specialists on water education including local and state water issues, groundwater, surface water, water law, water use, and conservation. The Project WET activity guide provides hands-on, classroom ready activities and demonstrations for K-12 grade students.

USDA Forest Service. Established in 1905, the Forest Service is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Forest Service manages public lands in national forests and grasslands. Gifford Pinchot, the first Chief of the Forest Service, summed up the mission of the Forest Service "to provide the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people in the long run." National forests and grasslands encompass 193 million acres of land, which is an area equivalent to the size of Texas. The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest covers all of Nevada and part of the eastern Sierra Nevada.
